What you get in 60 seconds
The calculator asks for four things: birth date, birth time (as accurate as you have it), time zone, and birth location for solar-time correction. From that it derives:
Why one calculator serves both Saju and BaZi
Newcomers often ask whether they need a "Korean" calculator specifically. You don't, and here is why: Saju (사주) is the Korean pronunciation of 四柱, "four pillars"; BaZi (八字) is the Chinese "eight characters." Two names for one chart. Both traditions build pillars from the same ten stems and twelve branches on the same solar-term calendar. A chart cast by our calculator is a Saju chart — what differs between schools is the interpretive emphasis afterward, not the calculation. This comparison walks through the two schools in detail.
Reading your result: start with the Day Master
Korean Saju is personality-first: everything orbits the Day Master. Once you have your chart, read it in this order:
- Find your Day Master. It is the upper character of the day pillar — one of ten stems. This guide explains what the Day Master is and isn't.
- Meet the ten temperaments. Each Day Master has characteristic strengths and blind spots; find yours and read it as a starting lens, not a verdict.
- Scan the ten gods. They describe how the rest of the chart treats your Day Master — supporting it, pressuring it, draining it, or clashing with it.
- Check the season. The month pillar sets the chart's climate. A Fire Day Master born in winter lives a very different chart than one born in summer.
- Glance at the Daewoon. Your current ten-year cycle tells you what kind of period you are in — the "weather" over your natal "climate."
For a slower first walkthrough, this 15-minute guide covers the same ground step by step.
The chart is arithmetic. The reading is craft. Start with accurate arithmetic.
What a Saju chart does not do
Three honest limits, stated before you calculate:
- It does not fix your fate. The chart maps timing patterns and elemental dynamics. Your choices, environment and effort shape what happens inside them — this is the traditional teaching, not a modern disclaimer.
- It is only as good as its input. An uncertain birth time means an uncertain hour pillar. Calculate honestly with three pillars rather than inventing the fourth.
- It replaces no professional advice. Health, legal and financial decisions belong with qualified professionals. A chart can inform timing; it cannot diagnose, counsel, or predict markets.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a Saju calculator or a BaZi calculator?
Both — the underlying chart is identical. We explain results with Saju-friendly vocabulary (Day Master, ten gods, Daewoon) alongside Chinese terms, so the chart works in either tradition.
Do I need my birth time?
For the hour pillar, yes. Without it you still get a meaningful six-character chart from the year, month and day pillars — plenty to start with.
Is it really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no email wall, no expiring trial. An optional human reading exists for those who want depth, and it is never required.
Why do Saju calculators sometimes disagree?
The cycle is deterministic; disagreements come from input handling — time zones, solar-time correction, and solar-term month boundaries. Here is exactly where the differences come from.
Can a Korean practitioner read this chart?
Yes. The pillars are the same ones any Saju or BaZi practitioner would calculate. Bring the eight characters; they bring the school.
